GAME WARRIORS:
WE MAKE LEARNING FUN!
OUR AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM
STUDENTS WILL EXPLORE BOTH SIDES OF THEIR BRAIN!
Unlike other coding schools, Game Warriors was founded by a 25 year veteran of the game development industry. This means students will be taught actual core principals used in game development. Our approach is different because we want your children to learn real skills that can be used to get a real job. We also understand that coding is not the only thing a student may be interested in or excel at. That’s why our Master Warriors Class goes through the entire development cycle of a game where students can get a taste of all elements of game and software development. This includes concepts and design, content creation, artwork, music and sound effects, coding, testing and marketing. We then offer more in depth classes in many of those disciplines once a student determines what interests them the most. Coming later in 2025, we will offer classes and camps on Arduino, robotics, 3D printing, Minecraft, Roblox, AI and much more!
Why Games?
Kids relate to games more than just about anything else on the planet! This helps make learning fun! Plus, creating games lends itself to teaching so many important elements such as organizational skills, creativity, design skills, programming, etc. Lastly, if you can program a game, you can program virtually anything! From UI to AI, math to physics, 3D manipulation to game logic, programming games covers a plethora of coding disciplines.
Learn Game Development from A-Z
Our Master Warriors program is unlike any other coding class out there because our students learn all aspects of making a game from concept, design, 2D art, 3D art and audio to Unity3D engine tools and C# coding. Just as importantly, we use programs and languages that can be used in the real world at real jobs.
Analytical and Creative Sides of the Brain
Master Warriors will encourage students to tap into both sides of their brain in a journey of self discovery. Many will be astonished to learn they have a creative side! Others may realize that coding is super fun and enjoy the analytical or coding side of things. And some students will discover they enjoy doing a little bit of everything!
Design & Art
When a game is developed, it is usually the result of many iterations of concept art, the testing of prototype worlds and game mechanics as well as ever evolving storylines. Students will learn organizational skills and unleash their creative talents during this process while creating their own version of the game they will be developing in the class.
Microsoft MakeCode
MakeCode is a free, open source platform for creating computer science educational experiments that support a progression path into real-world programming. MakeCode is a fantastic entry point for students as it has a built in emulator and block code editor as well JavaScript and Python editors. We use MakeCode in our curriculum at the early levels as it’s a great place to get started and demonstrate the basics of logic, programming, art and more!
Unity3D Editor
Unity3D is the premiere game development tool in use today. It is an ecosystem of developer, artist and designer toolsets. At its core is an extremely powerful 3D engine that can take your imagination and transform it into reality or virtual reality! The proof is in the numbers. 82 of the top 100 games use Unity! At Game Warriors we teach students this magnificent platform and help them bring their own imaginations to life!
Coding
Once a student has added or created all the content for their game into Unity (art assets, audio, particle effects, etc.) not much will happen unless they make it happen! That’s where coding comes in. Students will write C# code to bring their world to life! C# is used in virtually every industry and is one of the most popular and powerful languages in the world. Students who learn C# is an investment towards their future.
LEVEL UP – The Gamification of Learning
There is a balance between having fun and learning. While we certainly want students to have a great time, we also feel strongly that they should be learning valuable skills that can help them later in life. One of the ways we keep students motivated to learn is by the gamification of the learning process. Each time they complete a topic, they must pass a test on what they learned. Once they pass, they earn XP points as well as Warrior points. Warrior points can be exchanged for really cool prizes on our Level Up Wall!
MINI ARCADE
After their lesson, students can hang out and play free games in the arcade room. Currently there is a 4 player Tomb Raider game, Mario Olympics Tokyo 2020, 4 player NBA Jam, 4 player NFL Blitz and Ms. Pacman with multiple games. More games are planned in the future including student created games!
